A Documentary-Style In-Home Family Photography Session in Houston

This is the Bingle family in their Houston home. Miciah had recently welcomed a new baby and wanted photographs that would preserve not only this season of life, but also the feeling of home as their family adjusted to life with a newborn.

She specifically requested a "fly on the wall" approach, allowing me to quietly document the natural rhythms of their day. Rather than posing or directing, I stepped back and observed as the moments unfolded naturally.

During our session, I photographed little everyday moments that make this stage of life so special. Luka excitedly checked the mailbox and helped his mom bring in the mail from the front porch. The family spent the afternoon together playing guitar, caring for their new baby, preparing steak and vegetables for dinner, and simply enjoying each other's company.

For most of the session, I relied on the beautiful natural light flowing through their home and worked with the environment as it was. As the sun began to set, I incorporated a small amount of flash to maintain the warm and authentic feel of the images.

Miciah and her family were incredibly welcoming throughout the session. They even invited me to share a meal with them, which was such a thoughtful gesture. It was a joy to photograph this season of their lives and an honor to document these memories for them.

If you're looking for a meaningful way to preserve your family's story, an in-home documentary session is one of the most authentic options available. The walls, the routines, the everyday moments, and the little details of home all become part of the story. These seasons pass quickly, and photographs help us hold onto them long after they've gone.
