Generational Family Lifestyle Session during Spring at Willow Fork Park
This is the Gracias Family, whom I met through an amazing mutual friend (shout out to Aura)! This was a generational family photography session, in the sense that we were not only photographing one immediate family but also involving Grandma, Grandpa, and all of the siblings and their individual families as well. Valeria suggested we take photos at Willow Fork Park, located in Katy, TX, and I couldn’t be happier with the results!
It was a hot day during Spring, so I asked the family to meet me one hour before sunset. I wanted to make sure that the group was as comfortable as possible during the shoot. My first priority when shooting any family session is to get a big group photo at the beginning, middle, and end of the session—this ensures that we get at least ONE good photo of everyone during the process. In between these traditional shots, I kept things super relaxed, often letting the family do their own thing, like view the animals in the nearby pond, let the kids play games with one another, or simply look for natural interactions between family members. I often called on each individual family one at a time so that they too could get photos of just their immediate family members.
This session was special to me because Valeria was so stinkin’ gracious that I automatically wanted to be her friend. I felt loved and welcomed by her family, and I could tell how fun and relaxed they were when they were all together. It was also a privilege to photograph this season of life with Valeria’s parents… I think the grandparents in a family play one of the most vital and special roles, and it is something we must not take for granted.
