A Fun Quinceañera Portrait Session at Mecom Rockwell Colonnade in Houston’s Museum District

This is my lovely niece Isabella in her beautiful purple dress, photographed months before her actual quinceañera celebration. Her mom wanted to take portraits ahead of time so they could display the images as part of the artwork during the reception.

We were hoping for an elegant location with florals, but since it was late fall, there weren’t many blooms available. Instead, we leaned into the stunning architecture at Mecom Rockwell Colonnade in Houston’s Museum District and later added floral accents in post-processing to complete the vision.

During the session, I photographed Isabella using both natural light and off-camera flash, combining the two to create a polished yet natural look. The mix of lighting styles really brought out the richness of her dress and the timeless feel we were going for.

One of the sweetest moments of the session was when I invited Isabella’s mom into a few frames. Watching her get emotional as she looked at her daughter truly reminded me how quickly childhood passes and how deeply meaningful these milestones are.

This session was especially special to me because it highlighted the beautiful bond between mothers and daughters. I also loved spending time exploring a bit of the Museum District with Isabella and capturing her personality in such a meaningful season of her life.
