A Romantic Cold & Sunny Afternoon at the Old, “Black Labrador” Pub
This is beautiful Arianna and her sweet fiancé, Jeremiah Blocker. These images were captured at what used to be The Black Labrador Pub off Montrose Blvd, and now these buildings belong to St. Thomas University. I love this location because of the diversity in backdrops… just enough trees to include nature, but also British architecture to keep things interesting. We captured these images during the first week of January, and I remember the weather being so fresh and absolutely perfect for close and cozy shots. Afterwards, we headed to North Boulevard near Rice University to capture a few more images. This second location was only 3–5 minutes away, so it was an efficient process to move from one location to the next. Arianna brought her best friend, Cori, to the shoot, and she was super helpful in making Arianna feel comfortable and providing an extra hand when we needed it 🩷
Arianna wanted her engagement photos (and future wedding photos) to have a timeless and vintage feel. I knew exactly what she was talking about when she showed me her inspiration photos. During the session, I tried to keep things lighthearted and fun by making the couple laugh and cuddle. I knew the movement would give Arianna the photos she loved. We tried a few running shots, and I loved how these creative photos turned out.
This session meant a lot to me because I met Arianna during a transformative small-group program to encourage Christian believers in their faith. Seeing Arianna and Jeremiah smiling and glowing reminded me of God's faithfulness and promises to His children. I am truly excited to photograph their wedding soon!!
